This is a project I completed for my AD605 Operations Management class as part of my Master's degree at Boston University. While the hospital, staff, and data were made-up, the case study was based off of a real situation one of Professor John Maleyeff's students had encountered in her career.
I worked with three other students to explain to hospital management a new system to track metrics representing the quality of patient care (such as the rate of hospital-acquired infections). This new system would avoid giving false positives for decline in care that could actually be explained by simple luck or fluctuations in patient conditions.
I worked with my teammates to assess the metrics we were given and analyzed them using a program on Microsoft Excel. As I was the only native English speaker in my group, I took on the responsibility of editing what my partners wrote as well as writing several of my own paragraphs, both of which required understanding the outcomes of data analysis as well as being able to articulate it in a clear manner.
