I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Enterprise Risk Management at Boston University, after receiving a B.S. in Professional Writing at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). I am currently a consultant in the medical and construction industries at Pioneer Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres and Lee Kennedy Co., respectively.

My career started with a passion for helping other people. I began writing because I wanted to help people understand the products and software that they use on a regular basis, as well as help medical professionals articulate their research. I still love writing, but as I moved into the workplace, I found myself at an impasse. I was able to observe processes, but not comment on them. This was more passive than what I wanted to do in my career, which was to participate directly in business analysis and strategy. 

 

As I sought more agency in my career, I found the answer was in front of me all along. Every action has a consequence, and my life has been defined by my careful and thoughtful approach to everything I do. When I wrote, it was because I wanted to draw attention to impacts. For example, in doing work for Pioneer Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres, I was able to sift genuine trends from statistical noise in their data and describe it in reports. I did that because I knew, as did my bosses and colleagues, the data from the past was a guide the future of wound care at the Centres. Understanding the risks— how to control them, what they are, etc.— is central to sustaining sound medical practice.

 

With that in mind, enterprise risk management was a natural choice for me to make a career pivot. In that position, I am empowered to advise on strategy and choose the path of my analysis. I can advise on business's continued success by helping people prepare for the future, whatever it may hold.
